Cannes Film Festival - what it means.
Long time no post!!! : )
Many of us know that on Utaban it was mentioned that Kiiroi Namida was being rushed so that it could be entered in the Cannes Film Festival. I think we all know that the festival is important, but don't know fully what it means for Arashi, or even what it means at all!
The movies that Cannes shows are really GOOD. They have a much higher chance of coming to theaters than other independent and foreign films. Although most of the foreign films are not seen by the average American, it's mainly because America is silly about hating subtitles.
Also, the red carpet for this event is always in entertainment news. We had some red carpet love with Nino already, but now we might be able to see all 5 on the same carpet as world-wide celebrities!!!
There are two ways of entering Cannes. Competition or Non-Competion
Competition Entries in 2006
Babel
Pan's Labrynth
Volver
Marie Antoinette
Fast Food Nation
The ones in red were all nominated for the Best Picture Oscar! And Pan's Labrynth was amazingly popular for a foreign film!!
Non-Competition Entries in 2006
Clerks II
Over the Hedge
The Da Vinci Code
X-Men: The Last Stand
Of course, I am only mentioning the famous ones.
But the list is not that long. About 20 movies in each category.
Arashi will definitely be noticed by the top film artists in the world!!!
Critics and film buffs will probably recognize Nino <3
I think that if you look at the type of movies in the list, it seems possible that Arashi's film will be in the competition category, doesn't it?
Yay \(^_^)/
I am so proud of Arashi!!!!
I hope I can catch a glimpse of them on Entertainment Tonight, ha ha!!!
The Festival will be on May 16th : )

I'm starting to think that the Cannes festival might not be a far possibility at all! :)
And for the 5 of them to walk down the red carpet together, on an international stage, oh my poor heart will die happily!
oh wow..I never knew how big cannes meant! Thank you for the enlightenment!
I'm praying so hard for Kiiroi Namida to be in this!
Finally somebody posting about Cannes! ^_^
I wondr when will they release the list of films that's going to participate.. The only site i'm stalking is the Virgin Guide to Cannes Film Festival (found it at wiki). Crossing my fingers for the guys to make it. I'm still unsure how the film will fare with the Japan audience. *crossing my fingers for that too*. Somehow after reading some (just two :p) audience reactions for the movie, they were not enthusiastic enough. Just maa, maa. *getting worried*
